Yeah, I think thats the plan. Probably going to get rid of it when I get back from Utah next weekend. Thought that maybe the first one was all user error since I was just starting out so I got #2, but im still not happy with it and a ton of others don't seem to be either. It definitely does a few things well that my 5D doesn't, but the IQ of this thing seems to be subpar. I hate wasting money vmad

Thanks for the reply. I'm not looking for one at the moment. I actually am hoping to have one less one soon. Trying to devise a plan to get a 1DX sometime relatively soon, but I don't want to let my 5D go in order to do so.

Does anyone else here own a 7D Mark II? I've owned two so far and have tried almost everything on earth to get sharp photos from it... not sure its even possible haha. Before I hear the "its the user" comments, there are numerous threads on their issues, with many of them being hundreds of pages long.

Nope, i did want to own one.
but the way it looks now, the new Nikon D500 looks to be the new winner.

7D2 just isn't sharp with certain glass, same as the 5ds/r. I fought the issue for quite a while and did a ton of testing. For example the canon 70-200 f2.8 IS V1 was razor sharp on my 5d3 but no matter what I did on the 7d2 it was soft. Switched to the F4 IS and it's amazing sharp. Another good option is the Tamron 70-200 or canon f2.8 IS v2. My opinion is the sensor is so detailed it magnifies flaws in the glass. I found a similar issue on the 1d3 vs 1d4. The bump in MP's seemed to cause my images to be slightly softer with certain glass. Upgrade the glass and voila the images were amazing.

One other interesting point was that this problem didn't hold true with primes. I don't think I have had a prime yet that wasn't sharp on the 7d2 or 1d4.

Have you taken a look at this guide on use of the 7D2 yet?

Mine seems fine

I've seen your shots and your stuff looks crazy good. Maybe I just need to spend a few more months with it to figure out what im doing wrong. Im actually using the 70-200 2.8 II, MFAed, ran through a ton of different settings, and tried different shooting techniques... still having the same exact issues. Going to take it out somewhere on Sunday to try to figure it out more.
