Dog is super cute! Love him/her.

I really dislike cats so maybe I am biased but what exactly is the 'thing' 2nd from the left?

Those are Oriental shorthairs in the first photo. They basically (in layman's terms) are Siamese without the Siamese color. It's cool you've got three of them! Are they as verbose as normal Siamese?

Just got back here and thanks for comments. The thing 2nd from left is an ebony smoke Oriental Shorthair and he was not happy about having his portrait taken in the studio. Boogie is the most extreme of the three and I have been asked more than once what is it so I take no offence. Boogie is from a breeder and the other three cats and the dog are all rescues. All three Orientals are somewhat vocal with the white one being the mouthiest, she will carry on a conversation with you as long as you are willing to chat. The dog is a cocker spaniel/dachshund mix and has done some catalog work so he's real content in front of the camera and lights.
As for getting everyone to cooperate it took us an hour and 45 minutes to get the final shot and I did the cat wrangling after setting the camera and lights up and positioning the husband with said camera ready to go. We used treats as bribes and ran up and down the stairs a dozen times bringing unwilling cats back to the set. Meanwhile the dog sat quietly accepting a treat occasionally for being a good model.
