Shooting handled in low light is always tough. Some of softness may be from movement of people being shot and being zoomed at 70MM in low light. I have 24-105 L which is slow to focus in low light but can take very sharp pictures in low light with IS. I am debating on selling my 24-105 and getting 24-70. If a new IS version comes out for 24-70 I am getting it in hearbeat.

Keeping posting pictures. I love candid shots without flash. Best picture was the last one of kid looking at the tree.

Great shots! Christmas trees make for some creative shots this time of year!

The 7D will do quite well at higher ISOs even, it does require some post processing tools like noiseware and a good image processor.

Even at that ISO, there are a ton of details/sharpness that can be preserved. I have several examples of that in my smugmug gallery.

Thanks team speed! Ive shot tack sharp images inside the IZOD center which has horrible lighting. Currently i use noise ninja on anything i shoot over 1000 iso. The 7D files clean up very well and retain a whole lot of sharpness with that tool.

Thanks snoop! Guess in my aunts house it was a bit more tricky like you said with the constant moving of people! The 24-70 produces tack sharp images. Here with the combo of low light, high iso, and trying to hand hold with low shutter speeds it was very difficult! But im happy i was able to manage some what. I thought about holding off on buying the 24-70 because of rumors of an IS version but it seems like every year there is a rumor for it. I say if you want it then get one now or at least a deal on a used one. Ive seen them as low as 850 with scuffs and 900 in prestine condition.

Thanks for the encouragement! I came from an xsi and its a whole lot more camera. I love the xsi and in the future will buy it again as a back up. I actually did try out the fps rate at a nets game. I was high in the upper levels using my 24-70. I was able to get some good whole sequence shots of carlos boozer dunking the basketball and lee from the nets shooting a three pointer. I was amazed at how well they came out considering how far away i was from the action. I can only imagine what i could do if i was sitting that much closer.

wow! i am a fan of nba too.
go & show the other sport photographers that your 7d really rocks, too !

Yeah i could have made a flip book with the shots  My friend was at the nets vs thunder game. He sat three rows from front court and saw durant score 40. I was just thinking man if i was only that close!

The cathedral shot I like as well, but I have to ask was this taken after communion?

They are all very impressive and beautiful as well.
