I just picked up the Canon 50mm 1.4.
When I'm manually focusing and reach the far end of the end focal length, the ring still turns- but a little stiffer, like it's "sliding" over something.

I usually don't notice it at first. I'll be focusing on something, turning the ring clockwise, when I notice that it's still turning but I've reached the end. On my old Minolta lenses the ring stops when it reaches either end of it's focal length. My Canon 28mm 1.8 doesn't do this...
Is something wrong with my lens?

What do you mean by "end of its focal length"? It only has one focal length. Are you referring to the distance scale?

Yes, the distance scale, sorry.

It's ok. The focus ring will still turn even when you pass the infinity mark on the distance window..

No problem. Yeah, that's nothing to worry about. And, welcome to POTN!

Ahh, good to know -thanks! I'm new to these realms.
It's a nice lens so far. I replaced a Nifty Fifty with it after too many weird/loud autofocus issues w/the NF. It's definitely worth the money to upgrade.
IQ-wise I'm enjoying it more than my 28mm 1.8.
