is there any hack other than chdk to control the opning and closing on shutter manually?

Are you looking for 'Bulb' mode?

On most cameras you can select up to 30secs in shutter priority mode.

For timings that can't be directly selected in shutter priority i.e. 25 secs, or for shutter openings longer than 30 secs, you can use bulb setting, as others have already said.

That depends. Are you good at telekinesis?

When I was a kid I made a pinhole camera where opening the shutter was pulling a piece of black tape off the hole. Didn't have to hack the firmware either.
