Wedding photo locations in Gilroy, CA

Hello guys and gals,

I'll be shooting a wedding in October in Gilroy, CA but I am not from that area. Can anyone recommend me some good locations for shooting wedding party photos? Gardens, vineyards, barns, etc... Anything goes...I want to be able to present my client with some options.

The customer must know you're not from there, ask them to choose some locations. Suggest what works well for you - I would suggest somewhere grassy and shady with trees as a background as one location, but I also like grassy hills and old sheds. Other than that I just take photos wherever we end up.

There should be plenty of fields around Gilroy, there is a lot of farming around there. Also, Gilroy is famous for its garlic (don't ask me why) so maybe you could incorporate garlic somehow? If the shot isn't until October you could scout out some places yourself.

LOL! Garlic was the first thing I thought of too.

I don't know how much the place has changed in the last 45 years, but my high school used to compete with Gilroy High in sports and I remember the place as being very agricultural with little else...

We were driving past Gilroy on way to Monterey and saw a wedding going on in a small vineyard by 101. It was right after you cross 152 after the fruit stands.

Maybe play with the garlic theme and try to incorporate vampires.

lol, great suggestions guys. I'll definitely ask the client if he has anything in mind, but it would be nice to know some specific locations in the area I can recommend.

Gilroy is the garlic capital of the country! However, there are some beautiful hills and areas you can shoot photos from. Ask the B&G to scout out a few places they would like to have as wedding scenery.

Next I am driving by I will make a note. It was very small place right by the highway. Let me ask on our local photography forum.

I would drive down to Monterey or Carmel. You can get some awesome shots of them there especially when the sun goes down. Check Point Lobos.

Hmm... That's an option too. Thanks. I'll consider that. I believe they are planning to have the ceremony in the early afternoon and the banquet around sunset, so it might limit the shoot times.
