Any recommendation for a 16GB CF card to use in both 5D2 and 7D? For about the same price at B&H and Amazon I could get a Lexar Pro UDMA or Sandisk Extreme UDMA. The only comparable difference seems to be the Sanddisk Extreme is rated 60 MB/s and the Lexar rated at 45 MB/s.

Does anyone have hands-on experience using these CF in these cameras?

Thanks in advance

I am using a Lexar Pro UDMA 16GB. No complaints when shooting in 8 fps burst or on video (you need at least 6mb/s min for video).

For myself, i hv no problem with the Extreme 60MB/sec CF card on both 7D (sold) and 5D mkii. both no problem on video and fast burst shooting. never hv any lexar cf card hence no comment.. But IMO, i tends to go for more reown brand name.

I have no idea what "reown" means but Lexar is a quality card. Yes they had issues in the past with some Canon cameras but if you think some people haven't had issues with Sandisk cards you're poorly mistaken. People also use the cheaper Kingston cards and most have no issues either. Pick your poison and shoot.

I use a 32g Sandisk Extreme III, and at 30/mbs I have no problems with 8 fps, or 1080p video.

Works flawlessy.

I have used both the Sandisk Extreme III 20 mb/s and the Kingston elite pro 113x. Neither card has performed properly with 1080p recording on my 5d2. I get pixleation and skipping every second or two. At first I thought the cards were too slow but now I am not so sure. Anyone have any ideas? I'm going to go get a Sandisk Extreme III 30 mb/s card and try that.

i have no problem with the extreme III cards for HD viewing. It may be your computer thats giving you the skipping since it takes alot of processing power to view the 1080p.

as for the CF cards, i also have a kingston 133x and given the chance I would not buy it again. it has given me alot of trouble. Often times, I would put it in and my 5dii would say that it not formatted. If i turn off the camera, take out the card and put it back in, it would work. Another incident with the card occurd when i used the card with a 30d. the 30d read the card as being full even though it wasn't (not even close!). So i would stay away, pay a little more and get the sandisk. With that being said, there was no problems with FPS in burst mode or video using this card.

I'm pretty sure its not my computer but I am going to check on my friends machine later. My CPU usage peaks at around 60-70% and my ram usage hits 1.8 gigs. I am running a dual core 2.8 ghz AMD with 4 gigs of ram on Vista Ultimate 64 bit. My buddy has a quad core with 4 gigs of ram so if it does the same thing on his I'm sure its a write issue to the card.

I will let you guys know what I find out when I test a faster card.
