I am having problem with PSE8, any advice?

50% of the time when I open PSE8 and choose "organizer" nothing opens and the welcome screen closes. On ocassion it will do the same when I choose "edit". Is anyone else having this problem, or do I just not know what I am doing? I am very new to PSE.
