It's good but it seems like only 9/10th sharp to me. This is the actual without crop so at least I know I can print it as big as I possibly would want.

At a shutter speed of 1/90sec I'm pretty sure that what you're seeing there is motion blur from camera shake. Handheld shot, I presume?

Otherwise it may be missed focus, I guess.

Either way, you're right; it is a soft shot. I'm impressed with the framing and curious as to where you were that you got close enough to frame that shot with at 200mm :p But, honestly, I don't think this will print well; even at this resolution it sort of makes the eyes feel out of focus to look at, printing is likely to make that worse. If you do print, I'd try a relatively small, cheap size before making a large one.

I did not realize the shutter speed was that slow. I was getting 1/2000 earlier that day with 2.8 and ISO100. I really should have bumped the ISO up since the sun was going down by the time we got to the tiger.

Also the tiger was walking toward me so maybe I should have used "sport focus" instead of one shot.

At the zoo; the distance it probably came to within 5 meters of me. Don't remember if there is glass or if I was just lucky enough to shoot between the fence links. I was never in any danger :P

You were probably getting the 1/2000 @ 100 due to all the white snow refelcting light on the sensor. Once you filled the frame with the tiger that would have dropped the SS down if you were using auto or AV mode. That would account for the slight blur to the photo
