As far as focusing, how do these lenses do in low light? I'm trying to chose between these lenses too, and that is going to be my deciding factor. I hate when a lens searches to focus!

They all focus fast and well and accurate. The new Sigma 85 f1.4 may be a lens you might want to check out also.

I now have both the 85mm 1.8 and 135mm, I guess both lenses have it's place in my bag... both get used :) I do like the 135 better tho :)

So do you all agree that whichever lens you get, they will all look similar, or can get similar results by changing working distance and/or post-processing?

I already have the 50mm f1.4, I'd really like a wide prime but I don't fancy the 28mm f2.8 which I owned once (really buzzy), and I heard the 35mm f2 is the same, and I can't afford a 35mm f1.4L. If I were to keep the 50mm f1.4, would the 85mm f1.8 be any much benefit, or would it be better to go up to 100mm f2 to get a bigger difference (or even the 135mm f2L)?

At this range, I'm not bothered about the "L", so if they are all similar in quality, I'll go for the one that complements my 50mm. Though the 135mm does have the advantage of using a 1.4x converter which I already have...but high shutter speeds are then a must (don't use monopods in a wedding).

I'm one of the few who has all 3, so I'll make some comments on my thoughts/opinions...

my most used is the 100/2 - but that's mainly because I loan out the other 2 to friends more often than the 100, so it's in my bag more...
the least used is the 85 - the purplees really do bug me on it when shooting wide open, but aside from that, it's great

the main use for all 3 is sports... hockey and night baseball... when shooting hockey, I'll use the 100 or 135 when shooting kids, and the 85 when shooting adults - the ice is always the same size, the general distance to subjects is the same, but the subject size varies, and the difference between the 3 does help
when shooting baseball at night, I determine which to use based on how far from the mound/pitching circle I am (which varies from field to field)

Portraits/wedding
I rarely bring the 85 or 100 to a wedding... I do bring the 135, but most of my portraits are done with the 70-200 f4IS - I find it amazing for portraits... I'd say that lens does 65% of my portrait work...

I won't have this combo for very long though.... The 85 1.8 will be replaced, by either the L or the Sigma (who am I kidding, it will be the L, I just want to see the Sigma first), and I've considered moving the 70-200 f4IS and the 135 for a 70-200 Mark II... things are always changing in my bag ;-)a
