should be no big deal to send it in.

canon always clean my sensor voluntarily when I send my camera for other issues

the "dust bunny" is easy to fix, try a rocket blower or this special camera accessory from wallyworld

Is it correct that when the warranty has not expired, the Canon service is free? Thanks!

Just clean it yourself. No need to keep shipping your camera off all the time. It's easy and completely safe as long as you use the right tools and common sense. Try HERE (external link) for a tutorial and to buy what you need to clean it yourself.

You own a SLR. All SLRs get dust. It is unavoidable. You can pay the $20 shipping to send it to Canon and they will clean it this one time, or you can take the $20 toss in a few more and get yourself a cleaning kit. At some time your going to have to clean so might as well learn how. It's not rocket science and quite easy to do.

Take a look at this site:
http://www.cleaningdigitalcameras.com/ (external link)
It pretty much describes all the methods.

Then order one of these:
https://www.micro-tools.com …spx?ItemCode=DIGI-KIT4A-F (external link)

And you'll be set for the next 50 or so cleanings.

They never have for me and I've had a ton of stuff go back for warranty work. They pay to ship it back, but not to them.

If I ask for any warranty repair work online, they will not pay for shipping. But if I call them they have emailed me the shipping label to send it to them, as long as the item is under warranty, of course.

Unfair?

Because your camera has dust?

No.

But like everyone has said, this is a very common occurrence. It will happen frequently. Learn to clean it now. Dust is inevitable.
