I got 3 Lee filters for Christmas
The kit box says ND Grad hard
Stamped on the filters it says .3 ND G H, .6ND G H .9ND G H

Have I gotten the wrong kind?
I am not able to see the graduation.
Could that be since it is HARD and not SOFT?
Or could it be that my eyes are letting me down here in the arctic light?

Hard grads should have a pretty sharp break between the ND part (1-3 stops) and a clear part of the filter.

It has a sharp break between the clear glass and the coloured one.
If I have hade batteries for my flash I would have sent an image. Might do that tomorrow

Then you have what the box says. To see the effect, set the camera in Av or M mode at your desired aperture and use the DoF preview button to stop the lens down to shooting aperture while you adjust the filter up or down.

If you ever buy the soft set from Lee, you'll definitely see a difference. Congrats on the filters! You'll enjoy using them! :)

I'm guessing that ".3 ND G H" probably stands for " 0.3 Neutral Density Graduated Hard"

Why do you think you didn't get hard grads?

I will try that. Thank you for your help

I have only had Cokin GND's before until I lost the pouch
And reading various places it was recommended to get the hard edge for digital camera's and it is impossible to see the grads. So I was uncertain

Not to worry...you have the right filters. My wife "surprised" me with the same filter kit to replace my scratched-up Hitechs. TBH, I could probably do without the 1-stop, but the individual Lee filters were not available (just the kit three pack)...happy shooting.
