You get ONE SHOT at a play and then wait for the strobes to regenerate to full power, (let's say a full second--maybe longer) before you can take another. Is this a correct assumption?

If so, how many shots are you coming away with from a game assuming that one would have a pair of lights at one end of the court?

Thanks,

dave

It all depends on how you much you dial up your flashes and what kind of external power you are using.

When I shoot strobed I set my speed lights to 1/4 power and use quantum battery packs so I can take about a 3 shot burst then have to wait about a second or so for the battery to recharge the flash.

I try not to do that too much cause I don't want to burn out my speed lights but I can normally take about 1 shot/ second with out any lighting drop out.

I normally end up with 125-250 per HS game. The variation is generally caused by how many non-action and defensive shots I take. Some games I will take a lot some games I could care less and take hardly any.

Yesterday's game totaled 126 shots. One pair of lights, on one end of the court.

I'm shooting college basketball with four lights so I might be a little out of the norm. I'm shooting on average about 300 pictures. Lineups, pregame, game actions, etc.

Same here, between 100-130 in a typical HS game. That's using AB800's at full power, a little over 1 second on the recycle. I'll often get two shots per play on my end. Obstructions (players, zebra butts) keep me from shooting more shots more than waiting for my strobes to recycle.

I'm hoping to add another 30-50 non-action, away from the court shots.

Last two games I shot were about 75 but was more experimenting than anything so not shooting the entire game. Typical game would be as mentioned, 100-150 I'd estimate.

Nothing to do with it keeper rate...but see what an NBA photographer does...
