I am debating if this is worth buying. It's a kit that includes a bouncer, snoot with honeycomb grids, and a beauty dish.

What do you think?

Also, do you think this is softbox is big enough to light from the waist and up? It's 55cm x 30cm.

Please help me decide!!

I previously posted a cheaper version of what you are looking for. Search my username and you'll see it. A lower cost may alter your decision outcome.

I think the softbox would be big enough. I have to say I dont get the accessory kit for the speedlight. A beauty dish that small really wont make that much difference in light softness, neither will the diffuser at the cost of a few stops of power. The snoot is nice enough but you can achieve the same thing with a 58 cent bit of craft foam from walmart.

I've actually stepped away from that idea...looking at the 60in softlighter ii but I'm not sure if my 580EXII is powerful enough to light that evenly? another modifier im looking at is the westcott apollo 50in or 28in

Quick question:

Should I get a 50inch westcott softbox and a 60in softlighter? Does it make sense to have two big modifiers in one set (as a main and fill?)

My feeling is speedlites max out at filling a softbox at around 28x28. After that you are probably going to have less efficiency and probably not going to get any more light out of the large modifier than you would a smaller one. Its not just about power but about spread. Those are meant to be used with studio strobes that have a bare bulb rather than a speedlite that has a focused lens to direct and project the light. The softlighter because of its umbrella like shape would work better. But if you want big light, start looking at monolights instead of speedlites.

They use the Westcott for all their shoots.
