I just saw this over on The Luminous Landscape site, it is an AA battery recharger for the P-2000 made from stock Radio Shack (Circuit City in Canada) parts.

Claims up 3 recharges on a set of AA's. I plan to get the parts tomorrow and try it out.

i made one ages ago using 2 holders 8 total batteries, half in parallel and half in series. each holder has an on-off switch so i can turn on the second set as needed (i noticed that running on a single set caused it to occasionally shut down after about 45 minutes of constant usage). it does charge the unit's battery, as well. i was able to watch movies the whole way over to the states on my last few trips and it was great to have in the field when i was in africa away from mains supply. i'm almost kicking myself for buying a second battery when i bought the unit last year...

Hmm, just visited my local (former) Radio Shack, apparently they had to send back all stock bearing the RS trademark due to the licensing dispute.

Therefore, Canadian (former) RS stores do not have any of this product.

The US Radio Shack internet says quite firmly that they will not take orders from outside the USA.

Any Canadian readers have suggestions for alternate sources for these supplies?
