If the people you are sending the pictures to are just going to look at them on the computer screen, 72dpi and 1024 x 768 size will be fine. With a reasonable jpg compression the file size will be way under 1/2 Mb, might be only 200 Kb or so. Sending them any thing better isn't going to look any better on their computer screen.

If you are sending full size pictures at 300dpi because they are going to print them and they want the best quality then the file size will be at least 1.5 Mb or larger. No way around that. Even if you use something like WinZip the zipped files are no smaller.

I usually send 72dpi 1024x768 picture by email, and if they want to print them I burn a CD with the high quality pictures and mail them the CD through regular mail. Another thing you can do is use an internet printing service like www.shutterfly.com (external link) or www.ophoto.com (external link). You just upload your pictures to the site, the interested people can look at them there, and if they want a print they can order them themselves and they are delivered straight to their door.

I've been using the "e-mail" function included in BREEZEBROWSER. It seems to work just fine with XP and AOL. Nopw that I mention it...if you are not using BREEZEBROWSER give it a try ASAP!
