drewl,

That is a great shot! But I have to know, what part of the world do you live in? That pose of the moon looks so strange and different to me, being in the United States....

Had another very clear night tonight and tried again. This time I feel I got better results. Please let me know what you think.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/inspeqtor/9597682406/ (external link)" title="4 moons by inspeqtor, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com …97682406_acaa48202a_b.jpg (external link)" width="1024" height="683" alt="4 moons"></a>

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/inspeqtor/9594890451/ (external link)" title="Moon 08-25-2013 by inspeqtor, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com …94890451_31de9ab9d1_b.jpg (external link)" width="1024" height="819" alt="Moon 08-25-2013"></a>

I did do a slight sharpening on this one. ISO 400 (moon still lower in the sky felt I needed a bit more ISO to bring out the brightness) 1/160 and f/8
500MM, tripod, shutter release, live view with manual focus.

No one understood me when I was talking of "Mickey mouse" side of moon but you showed it at best. Are you Disney related by any chance?:)

Yes you are right but I guess what Inspequtor is referring to is that for those of us who have friends in southern hemisphere, its always surprising how much fun they have not only with better sky but with always upside down moon! In fact if you don't rotate the image, its easier to say where on the planet, at least in relation to equator, you live.

You live in San Francisco? Why does the moon have the dark side pointing down? Did you use a rotating tool as you suggested? Just curious...

Yep, that is kinda what I was thinking....

You should take a photo of a full moon just before it sets and compare it to one just after it has risen. Then tell us who has the upside down moon. :)

Steve.

Got to admit, I've never heard of that, or had it pointed out - awesome! Some great trivia fun to be had with that little nugget!

I took this moon shot a couple of years ago..

I used a 30D on my 12" f5 newtonian telescope

I processed the shot in IRIS, and I adjusted the colour to match scientific data (slightly pink)
