Great shots everybody, but this reminds me of a customer I had when I managed a camera store. This gent comes in with some pretty good pics of the full moon. He shot them with a Canon AE-1 Program, he heard some long exposures as the shutter was open for many seconds. So he pops on his small flash, which ups the shutterspeed to where it should have been for a bright full moon. I could NOT convince him his tiny flash, good for mayhaps 15-20 feet didn't light the surface of the moon!

Here are a couple from my lucky session – a hole in the thick cloud cover materialised just at the beginning of the end of totality, then the sucker hole remained open for over 30 minutes.:)

Taken with a Vixen 4 inch F9 refractor and Kenko x1.4 Converter. The HDR results come from SNS HDR Pro which did a fabulous job of aligning and stacking the images.

Cheers

Dennis

nardes , these are fantastic ! You should submit those to www.spaceweather.com (external link) and http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html (external link)

Thanks - I did submit the 1st image to Spaceweather although I didn't consider APOD, as I thought they were mostly deep sky folks.

They post all kinds of shots and videos if it passes their taste but I really think yours needs to be posted at the APOD site !

I'm stunned and jealous that anyone can hand hold so steadily! Great job!
