There's an app called Flightradar24 that has really upped my Plane and Moon game...

Here are some more from tonight. I always consider it a good night if I get one good Plane/Moon shot. I more often than not come away empty handed.

I live just North of Atlanta. This evening, planes were taking off toward the East, which isn't the normal flight plan. The ones heading West were making a U-turn toward the North, which put them on a line with the Moon. It made it very interesting, and I didn't even have to leave my yard!

It was such a special night, I even caught a flight from Orlando to Nashville. I didn't even know it was coming. I had decided to set up a tripod and wasn't paying attention to the FR24 app. As I looked through my viewfinder to set my focus, there it was! I wasn't even at 400mm for that one.

Wow! Fantastic shots!! I wish I lived near a busy airport but that is not the case. There is a small airport 20 miles west of where I live, but I never hear or see flights from my home. I would love to buy the app but it would be wasted $$ for me.

Do you use the free app or the $3.99 with flight tracker?

I completely understand. I lived in rural Louisiana from 2005 to late 2013. I would see other photographers with Plane/Moon shots and hope I'd get the chance one day. The move to Atlanta has helped, but I do miss the sunsets and storm chasing.

I bought the app. I can't remember what features came with the purchase, but I've definitely gotten $4 worth of entertainment from it. Let it be noted that I very, very rarely purchase apps.
