The support bracket for me was a waist of money. I got a new much better tripod (external link) to really make a world of difference.

Ahhhh sorry to hear that but that tripod looks pretty damn sturdy though....

With the new tripod I can hand focus my 150-500 lens at 500 with very little shaking. My older Manfrotto shook violently every time I tried to hand focus. The build of the tripod made a world of difference.

This is a little more than a week lot of shots as some nights it was up way too late for me.
Then there were nights when we had so much cloud about so I just couldn't get a shot of it.
But I tried to make it look like each one was a follow on from the last one.

I am willing to learn and will listen to what other have to say.
But if I don't like it, never take offense to it.
It is just something that I may not like.

Not my area of shooting, but everyone takes a moon shot at one point or another....so here's my contribution.

It's hard to get a precise focus on a bright object like the moon or one of the planets. But you don't need any fancy techniques or equipment, either. I've learned that

...

I can't believe a really high-end camera like the Canon EOS 7D Mark II doesn't have an articulated LCD screen.

...

It's precisely BECAUSE it's a high-end camera that it doesn't have an articulated LCD. IMO it would be too fragile for the things most people put theirs through on the sidelines or in the woods. It's fine on my SX-50, but I'm glad the 7D doesn't have it.

Gripped 7D, gripped, full-spectrum modfied T1i (500D), SX50HS, A2E film body, Tamzooka (150-600), Tamron 90mm/2.8 VC (ver 2), Tamron 18-270 VC, Canon FD 100 f/4.0 macro, Canon 24-105 f/4L,Canon EF 200 f/2.8LII, Canon 85 f/1.8, Tamron Adaptall 2 90mmf/2.5 Macro, Tokina 11-16, Canon EX-430 flash, Vivitar DF-383 flash, Astro-Tech AT6RC and Celestron NexStar 102 GT telescopes, various other semi-crappy manual lenses and stuff.

Hey - they DO fold flat against the back of the camera for when you're on the sidelines or in the woods! You don't have to leave them sticking out where they would be "fragile".......

Couldn't agree more...

Flippy screens have no place on a high end Digital camera....

I consider the full frame cameras to be high end. I love my 7d, which I consider mid-range, but would love it even more with an articulated LCD screen.

The lack of it is why I haven't been in any hurry to pick up a 7d MkII.
