I use Autostakkert!2 (stacking & flat calibration (flat only applies to my high magnification stuff)) (version 3 is available these days)
I process the rest via imPPG (histogram stretch & deconvolution, subtle subtle use)
Then finalize everything in Photoshop (minor stuff) (highpass filters (subtle subtle use), contrast adjustment)

Very best,

Very best,

Thanks Martin! the price looks right on these. 8^) Just wondering, do you use these for just moon shots or other subject matter as well?

AutoStakkert or Registax can be used for the moon and planets and the sun, those targets mostly done with videos more than long exposures and subs, so in short term, "SOLAR SYSTEM".

I am also still learning.... I wish I had known about that imPPG program - price is right!

Since I shoot only the moon, and with a DSLR in single shot mode... I need a program to pre align them before stacking.

I use PIPP. (free)
then Autostakkert!2 for stacking. (free)
Then Astra Image for processing stacked file. Deconvolution, etc. Not free - but powerful flexible program. Seemingly infinite variations of various sharpening and enhancing tools. I mostly just use the various deconvolution routines. (there are several)
Final adjustments in LR.

I use them for solar & lunar. I use it for some minor planetary too. Everything except DSO basically.

Very best,

I think I need t learn a thing or two but....my first effort with my new lens and borrowed body..

Took me a while to figure out I needed full manual.

Had another crack at it tonight with my camera.
There's not a great deal of difference in the shots...I've toned this one down in Lightroom but the clarity is much closer than what I expected considering the two different cameras
