From March

QUOTED IMAGE

That's an incredible shot! What focal length is it and how many shots did you stack? EXIF, please. Thanks.

If my memory serves me correctly I believe he now uses a telescope of some kind or other.....

Yes, i am using a telescope.

I am using Skywatcher 180mm F15 Maksutov telescope which gives 2700mm focal length, and camera i used ZWO ASI385MC, i didn't use an extender or as they call it a Barlow, i can have even much closer but i didn't want to.

I was shooting in video, this is how they shoot planets and lunar in astronomy so they process with video file, i am so happy, and still learning, this was maybe first or second night only with the scope, also the camera is new so i was testing it as well, but i gonna buy another camera, i got into astro so much now that i don't follow much of photography here, one day i will get back to photography, but astronomy or astrophotography was in my mind and heart since very long time ago but i didn't get any answer from people how to do it, was lucky last year to got answers and i can't look back now, maybe one day soon i will try with Canon lenses so to keep some hope for people here, at least you can have sharp images of the moon full view either full moon or half or any phase with some long Canon lenses, here is another one i did too on March but with smaller scope to have full frame with another camera i use for DSO and higher resolution just for test.

IMAGE: https://s26.postimg.cc/nmfeo47ix/02_36_01_g4_ap204_RS.jpg

The scope is cheap, less than $200 but as bundle it is nearly about $250 or less, even i didn't process the image good enough, if this cheap scope can do it, then what about another scopes more expensive? and this lens is similar to 200-400mm Canon lenses range, stopping down maybe will put the lens in same focal length of the scope, and i am sure the lens will be sharper anyway because the scope is Achromatic so it has CA, well, it is a long story, i am enjoying with astronomy and scopes nowadays since last year.

As I've been working on my new website I came across one of my first astro shots. Single exposure taken with a 4 megapixel point and shoot through an eyepiece attached to a Meade AR5 refractor, no tracking used. Still amazed this was possible with the gear I used then.

^Nice. It's amazing what shadows add to a shot like that.

Thanks. I agree, shadows also tell us things about the surface structure that can't be seen from our vantage point. The shadow shapes inside the craters tell us the profile of the crater rim on the sunlit side and the length of the shadows cast by mountain peaks tell us which are the taller.

So, finally managed to locate my telescope given to me by my wife pre KIDS!!
As always, found it in the last place I expected.

Decided I would try and get some pics with the iPhone 5 over the eyepiece, and pleasantly surprised.
Pretty heavy on the PP but results came up okay considering its just a phone.
Now thinking about getting T adapter and putting my camera on the end, any tips?

I like the way the moon looks in daylight, surrounded by blue sky.

It's rained and been cloudy for 8+ days, and for some reason, I peaked outside last night and noticed... a clear sky, and the moon.

Lunar disc mosaic (see the full resolution image to see the difference, this was 11 images stitched):

Ok so i busted out the sigma 150-600 and put on the sigma 2x extender the other night. I was not letting the perfect night with no clouds or wind ruin my chance at the moon. Good thing too as the next night was pouring rain.

EXIF IS 1/100 F/13 ISO 200 1200MM
