Heard the Disneyland fireworks, and got a shot of the 2 day old Moon setting with some of the show.

From The other night. I’m beginning to think my 55-250 stm is much sharper than this lens.

Are you using manual focus? My copy of the 70-200 f4L IS is razor sharp.

Single shot in the afternoon well before dusk, moon low in the sky, no mirror lockup.
First moon shot with Sigma 500 sport and 2XTC.
Looks like potential is high for multiple shots stacked, once moon is higher in the sky, live view or mirror lockup...

The moon and Mars are getting pretty close, so I got some shots of both. But to get them in the same image, I cheated a bit - I cloned Mars onto the photo of the moon to move it close enough to get in the same image... Anyway, it makes a more interesting photo. Both of the original images were cropped to the same scale before combining, so they are the same scale, if not in their true proximity.

Hopefully, the clouds will let me try again at the end of July, when Mars will be in perihelic opposition and at its closest point to Earth in years - and will be even brighter.

Just another shot of the moon. The first is the full frame shot, just reduced to post, and the second is the same shot, but cropped to enlarge it.
