Here is a crop from my 210mm diameter F11.5 telescope using a ZWO AIS1600MM camera.

I recorded 1,000 frames and Autostakkert3! selected the best 500 and Aligned and Stacked them to produce these nice views.

Cheers

Dennis

Would this do the job?

There may very well be something out there, but this is what I did. I am a machinist, so I just made myself a little adapter for my lens foot on a break at work to go on a cheap Vixen dovetail I picked up on Amazon. (yes, I can make that too... but wanted a "factory" one to model from). I did have to drill and counterbore the dovetail, and grind back a 1/4-20 cap screw to the right length. I thought I would just need the dovetail, but my lens would not clear the holder. It isn't pretty... but my lunch is only 30 minutes. ;)))

I like your adapter block.

What years were you in? I was in 72-76 PH3 (Photomate)

Clavius, shot with Meade 12" at Seagrave Observatory where I am head trustee and a ZWO ASI174mm. The 174mm both cooled and uncooled are my preferred cameras for Solar, Lunar, and planetary. I usually take 5,000 images of the moon then stack and process, Astrostakkert, Registax wavelets, PS and LR

I'm not sure if I'm the "Doc" in question but if so, I was in from July '63 to June of '67. Stationed for two years at Flag Allowance COMSERVPAC Dental Facility, Pearl Harbor and the rest of my enlistment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany CVA-34.

Thank you. Here's a photo gallery of my ship, including the fire we suffered in 1966 taken or collected by PH2 Jamon Kent. He went on to be a 4 striper Captain in the reserves. Clicking on the patch takes you to his black and white photos and the color image takes you to his color slide gallery. I'm sure you and others will enjoy them. The Oriskany is now off the coast of Pensacola as the largest manmade reef for divers to enjoy.

Well, it was a mediocre night for seeing, made much worse by my imaging directly over my neighbors house. haha. But I really wanted to do some practice with my C8.

This is my best result, a crop from my ZWO ASI183mm camera and my C8. Best 100 of 1200 frames. Image posted is cropped, and reduced in size from original to about 40% in the processing I did. I have included a snap of my Astra Image program that shows a 100 % snip of original very blurry unprocessed stacked file, and it also has a thumbnail view of that snip in the full frame of the sensor. And my set-up, in my driveway. LOL

Last night almost fruitless.... but not quite.

Pythagorus and region... about 75% of original size. All the equipment as above shot. Stack of best 300 of 4600 frames.

2019-10-11 97.5 %

Hi Charles

Although I am "cheating" somewhat by using a telescope and a ZWO AS1600MM Mono camera ;-)a (industrial webcam), I still enjoy seeing the variety of photos posted here regardless of equipment used, even if some are upside down compared to my views in Australia.:-)

Cheers

Dennis
