Yes I am thinking it was the wrong time of day.

Lose my 2X?? I also have the Sigma 1.4X that is too much $$$ to just lose them......

I have taken decent pics of the moon at night with my 2X and my 150-600C!!

See below!

You still think I should lose it?????? ;-)a;-)a;-)a

That is a nice offer! Whenever I want to use it you will get it right back to me, even if I want it that same night, correct??

Oh wait a minute, you live in Nebraska, I live in Indiana... how is that gonna work???

Oh I know how you can FLY it to me in a couple hours time, right???

Then you can fly me to where ever I want to go that same night, any where across the country!!!!!

I love that LAST part!!!! ;-)a :-P ;-)a  ;-)a

My bad Charles ;-)a. If it works. ;-)a I'm thinking as the moon is brightly light it probably works well. Good for you. I've found a 2X TC doesn't give me good resolution or sharpness with my FE 200-600mm. However I haven't tried shooting the moon with that combo. The 1.4X TC now pretty much lives on the lens. Now i'm going to have to try out the 2X shooting the moon. ;-)a

It was indeed the wrong time of day. With my big gear I got about the same as you in mid day. Best daytime efforts will be early AM or not long before sunset.

And, you are quite right to keep the TC's they work well when on a tripod and focused correctly - zoom or not. (As you so well proved with your pic) :)

Cheers

Mike

Provided the moon is in the correct position in the morning or evening as you suggested, yes!

So you think it would be best for me to keep the TC's and not give them to Capn Jack?? :p :p

Thank you Mike for your kind comments ;-)a;-)a
