As long as you are using a tripod, you could improve things a lot by changing your settings with the gear you are using. Try 100ISO, 1/50s, F11. That should be close to right, and just open up your aperture if you need to and if you can. If not, then you should be able to go down to 1/40s safely. If still not bright enough, then LASTLY gradually move your ISO up. But, the settings I gave you should be close. flickr

Cheers Mike Using Mike's advice (thank you kindly sir) had a go today at the waxing gibbous, lens 200-600 with 1.4X TC. I shortlisted 2 images would like to hear which is better, and personally I feel the 2nd image is better. Neal
