I couldn't have asked for a better explanation, much appreciated. All that makes sense now. Many many thanks TeamSpeed.

With a 1st Quarter Moon outside, I had to put the EOS R and my new (today) RF 600mm F11 lens on a tripod and grab my 1st Moon shot with the new lens.

It did not disappoint.:-)

I have also attached a "colour saturated" version, where the blue and red hues indicate Titanium and Iron rich regions...

These are really interesting images! Was the saturated version a result of post processing, or did you do some filtering at the camera & stacking?

Both versions strike me as some of the best on this lengthy thread! Well done!

I just copied the original to a New Layer in PS CC and bumped up the colour saturation on that Layer and then blended it in using Colour mode.

Cheers

This year the moon phase, clear weather, and the sunflowers didn't quite line up but still went out to see what might be possible. It was windy and cloudy, but got lucky and got a glimpse of the Milkyway and Jupitor peeking through the clouds as the moon set into the horizon.

I wish I hadn't sold my Kenko 1.4x, I should have kept it, as the Canon ones don't stack. In any case, we won't be able to get any moon shots until about Sunday in these here parts, so here a quick shot last night.

Last night I tried stacking my Sigma 1.4 + 2.0

They also do not stack! .....sigh.....
