Two pictures of the Super Moon this week. The first one was taken from the Sydney Blue Mountains looking back over the Sydney suburbs (Australia). There was a layer of smoke lingering over Sydney due to back-burning this month - to reduce the hazard posed by next summer's bushfires. It took a bit longer for the moon to rise over the haze so a few of us were scratching our heads wondering when it would show up. Shot at 800mm with a 2x III Extender and cropped due to a tree that was in the way.

The second image shows the same moon an hour or so later as it climbed higher into the sky, ringed by clouds.

Here is the 3.4%-illuminated crescent rising over Brisbane city yesterday morning. This image is a stack of 14 out of 970 images that I used for a timelapse. Each image was a 1.3 sec exposure at f/5.6 and 1600 iso taken with the EOS R and 70-200f/4L.
