First week with my new R6 and 800mm f11. I am reasonably satisfied with the set up despite the high positive reviews and real chance of over expecting the quality.

I have only one issue that seems to dog me. Is it just me or my lens that the RF800mm focuses quite slowly? Too slow in fact for birds in flight? Hope to hear from others if they had the same or different experience.

Very nice capture! I was never able to focus on a bird in flight with the 800 when I test drove it for a weekend but I can't focus on a bird in flight with any lens. I am tempted to buy the RF 800 just for moon photos. I took one of the moon tonight with the 100-400 and the 2x extender that I will post now

I am curious if I can improve my moon photos by taking multiple shots and combining them - if so, any simple advice appreciated on the basic idea.

A couple taken last night through my 210mm dia telescope, at a focal length of 4,830mm, using a ZWO ASI 290 MM astro-webcam.

The mighty craters Clavius and Copernicus.

Cheers

Dennis

Very good capture. Especially at 4,830mm focal length your mount did great job and atmospheric turbulence, probably, was low.How many frames (video?) did you capture?

I recorded 10,000 Frames and the software that analyses the frames for quality/detail/sharpness (Autostakert!3) gave an output that indicated 15% were above 50% Quality within that batch, so I stacked 15% which was 1,500 Frames.

Also, in my Planetarium program (The Sky X Pro) which was connected to my Mount, I set the Tracking Rate to "Lunar" and it did a pretty good job of keeping the FOV steady with very little drift.

Cheers

Dennis
