All great shots, It was hard for me to decide but I think that the fat and thick ones look a little more balanced.

Long and Narrow might work with a blue sky background, but when they are near water or in the trees, showing more of the surroundings is best.

I agree 100% with Mitch on his crop thoughts....showing the environment is key when you capture them in it...blue sky BG I would want to see the bird not the sky. Personal taste. ;)
