365 Project

Thanks everyone! I think I'm going to head back tonight but shoot a little earlier to see if I can get some detail out of the buildings and more color in the sky. Last night I really wanted to play with the bulb setting since most of my shots are 30secs or less.

After 30 days, I totally failed the last 3 days of my project.

But in the last 3 days instead of doing it I finished cutting together a few of the time lapse pieces I shot in the last 30 days for a longer teaser for the time lapse short I am doing this summer! Make up for missing 3 days? Restarted shooting today!

More photos with my phone....I so want to take some with my DSLR, but these people have had SO many reporters pointing cameras at them just trying to catch a tear or sob so they will have a good photo for their story. Just trying to let respect trump my desire. I can be far more discreet with my phone.

Home destroyed, but these people made sure to hang their tattered back up. I was actually touched...getting softer as I get older...

That makes me really sad, I was getting a lot of inspiration from you guys. I think we were all helping our-self here by commenting, critiquing and giving tips to each other. Sure I do find it annoying it when someone's comes in posting 8 pictures at a time, but not enough to enforce the picture rule to the letter.

As Brandon said, almost everyone one of us (if not everyone) has it's own webpage and simply links the pictures up here. We aren't using POTN servers to host our picture.

Last thing, I re-read the rules carefully, and here's what I saw:

In 'Photo Sharing' section:

You may attach maximum of two (2) photos per thread. This means: you may attach up to 2 photos when you start a new thread. You may attach additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post and request.

You may embed additional photos if requested, but only in a reply to other member's post. If photo size exceeds 1024x1024 box, you may not embed it: post a link (URL) to it instead.

The important part is here:

you may exceed above photo sharing limits, but only if discussion requires it (e.g. lens test examples, more problem example photos, competitions).

Isn't a 365 project a competition, a challenge? If so, in this thread, we are allowed to post more than 8 pictures per thread.

I'd find it really disappointing to only have the permission to post link to my pictures. We're all lazy and I really don't see myself clicking everyone's link to see their picture of the day.

This is not a competition. It is a series of individual projects which you are all already hosting on your own photo sharing sites. The reason it's in General Photographic Talk is because it started as discussion, not as a photo sharing effort , and when used as photo sharing it doesn't fit into any single Photo Sharing forum. You may discuss your projects here. You should link to your own galleries rather than embed all your photos here. If you wish to discuss, in depth, a specific photo, you can post it here. But POTN is not your gallery and you should not use it as such. If your work doesn't attract others to click through, then maybe it's not as appealing as you would like to believe.

Ah well, I'd say that's pretty conclusive. Still can't quite understand why it's taken over three hundred and seventy pages to set us straight but there you go.
