I know we learn from our mistakes and that makes us better photographers but this image really bugs me. Why didn't I think to just move up the road another 50 feet? I could have eliminated the trees on the left and had so much more of the beautiful sunset.

So what image haunts you? Post up your "almost a good shot".

But at the same time, those trees add mystery to what they hide. To each his/her own.

First trip to Yosemite in 2005. Driving past Glacier point.. I HAD to get a shot of the sunset. cold as hell, I jump out and take one pic because we still had to drive to Lake Tahoe that night...

The whole drive to Tahoe; I'm thinking that pic is the best of the day. I get into Thaoe; get settled.. dump my pix and realize the pix is 2 stops underexposed. My ex-GF was in the passenger seat with my camera and apparently she had dialled in -2 compensation. D'oh!
This is the pic I ended up with after a LOT of work in photoshop; what I saw was much better....

I wouldn't say it "haunts" me, but this photo could have been much better. I saw the light and skidded to a stop about 20m further along the road and ran back. Tripod was still in car. Camera bag (with my grads) was still in car. Nothing really to brace the camera on. Took 3 shots with the aim to blend exposures but the darker shot was ruined by camera shake. Raced back to car. Light was gone :D
