Do these exist? Not digging having to take all of my shots were I pull focus or zoom on the tripod into motion to stabilize my footage and was wondering if like a normal camcorder if a remote would control a DSLR lens' zoom and focus and if so what's a good buy?

Canon 7D, EF 28-70L, EF 50, EF 28-90, EF 75-300, EF 35-70, EFS 28-135 and a desire to learn.

Partial. You can get the cable remote that allows you to focus, then shoot. Similarly to how you use the standard shutter.

But zoom your lens? Nope, that's manual.

Focus/zoom are more or less manual only in film mode, but that doesn't mean it can't be automated. You can take something like a follow focus, attach a servo, and use a wireless controller of some sort, but it'll be a time consuming project. Trying to slowly work out the details on a build plan myself, hopefully I'll be able to tell you if it's practical in a month or two ;)

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

I'm using OneOn's camera remote for ipod/iphone for my 5DMKII, the focus is pretty awesome.

Please put me on your eMail list when you succeed in doing this - I would be interested. Best Man Garnier oneyeshut@onetel.com (external link)
