so im selling my 1d3, and going down to a 5d2 or 7d. Main reason is because i dont need a 1d4, and i want video. i dont do much action stuff anymore so FPS isnt a huge deal.
But ive been reading/hearing that the 7d video is much better than the 5d2.
how is the Low light (i do alot of indoor events) of the 7d compared to the 5d2?

feel free to smack me if i missed a thread that covered this. i did a brief search, but there are SO many 7d threads, but none i could find comparing the two.

price isnt a big deal, since my 1d will pay for either. but with the 7d, i can get a redrock rig also.

I had the 7D but i ended up trading it for a 5D2. Dont get me wrong the 7D is a great body but when it comes to higher ISO and detail retention it just pales in comparison to the 5DII. I found that its cleaner than the 50D was in higher ISO shots but it just doesnt hold detail too well once you get to about ISO 800. And the overall IQ of the 5D is just that much better. Not to mention 5D files handle sharpening a heck of alot better than my 7D files. If your comparing video the 7D has more options as far as frame rates and the ability to shoot in 720p which the 5D lacks. But in terms of overall Video quality the 5D has a slight edge as well as less noise when shooting in higher ISO. Again its a fantastic body but if you want the best IQ on the market its hard to beat the 5DII.

Can you post a couple of the photos that had the banding from your first 5D2 along with the EXIF? Hopefully we can give you an idea of whether or not you should expect the same or better results from a new body.

i dont have any offhand but back when i posted them in the banding threads, noone had any suggestions, main reason i got rid of it.
I do alot of high iso events for work, so it was kind of affecting me.
