Hi,

I was wondering if there are any sports shooters out there that wouldn't mind sharing their Custom Function settings on the Mark III for shooting sports, mainly hockey now.

With my Mark II N, I was getting very good results while shooting thru the glass (f2.8, 1/640-1/1000, ISO 800-1000), but with the Mark III (new to me on Christmas Eve), results are erratic and unpredictable at best when using the 70-200 2.8 IS (IS is off, average EXIF at 2.8, 1/1250 - 1/2000, ISO 3200). I use center point mostly, not exclusively though. I was even in the same seat for the two games I shot so far with the III as I was in Sept. when I had the II N.....exposure settings seem to be really pushed too...which the lighting should be the same

What I find is that it might be too slow to truly 'lock in' on focus, even though it says it did. I'm not ruling out user error/learning curve, so that's why I'd like to try some settings that are tried and true for some. I mixed and matched all I could but I'm not happy with results. The same lens is just fine on my 5D.

I can say that this is a 503xxx, that was never fixed, but wasn't sure if this is an issue related to that.

Thoughts?

The CPN Europe site has some good info.

Yes! Download that PDF in the link provided. I set MK3 different than I would have if I didn't read through the PDF. Notably, I am having better results with tracking sensitivity set to "normal" rather than "slow" like I did with my old MK2. FNIII 2 to Normal (0), FNIII 3 to 0, FNIII 4 to 1, FNIII 5 to 1 and FNIII 8 to 1. Works well through the glass and with no glass. Of course, AF on enables focus drive, shutter half press does not. CFIV 1 to 2.

Awesome...thanks for the info. Already downloaded and will take a look today and try it this upcoming weekend again.

Do you think that I should send this in anyway for the submirror fix as it never had it done?
