My wife and kids floored me yesterday when they handed me an order confirmation for Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 EX DG APO HSM for Canon AF and a Sigma 1.4tc.
Hopefully the dilema of shooting my outdoor soccer games, and possibly my indoor games as well, has come to an end.

Wow! That's a cool lens, and it's just been recently released if i'm not mistaken. Congrats on the new toy and a wonderful family!

EDIT: Oppppsss..... i've mistaken this lens with Sigma 18-200 DG that has been recently released. :o

That's awesome!

I only got a hand strap, & a Tie with my daughter's picture on it.

(Well, I did buy myself a 70-400 F/4L a couple of weeks ago) ;)

That is an excellent lens.

I hope you enjoye yours as much as I enjoy mine (which was last year's birthday present).

It is fabulous for indoor sports. You will have other parents asking you for photos of swim meets, basketball, hockey, etc... Also great for outdoors, but there are cheaper lenses that do OK outdoors.

a monopod is very useful with this lens.

enjoy

Now Dad has no reason to ever miss another childhood activity (sport's, school plays, birthday parties, field trips, etc.).

Have you considered the ulterior motive? :)

Enjoy the equipment! It's great stuff.

The "DG" version of this lense just hit the market. If Im correct its only improvement over the older version is the lense coating is "optimized for digital". I have the older version and the 1.4x APO tele and have been loving it for almost 6 months now. I have been noticing a price increase over the last few months. When I got mine it was right under $700 on Pricegrabber.com and I got the 1.4x for $130. The cheapest I have seen the DG for is $840. I wonder if there is $140 worth of coating and if it was even needed. I have never had a problem with reflections off the front element or glare or C.A. I think the lense is near as perfect as you can get, but then again my copy is very sharp at 3.5 and above.

60D, Canon 18-135 IS, Sigma 10-20 hsm, 24-70 2.8 hsm, 70-200 2.8 hsm, 430EX II, and all the other stuff that goes along with it.
