I use a tablet everyday with my business. They're great. However, it really depends on what you're going to be using it for. I own a warranty management/walk through company so we use them to create reports on-site for homebuilders. So, for my line of work, they're a phenomenal tool.

Also, depending on the type, I wouldn't say it replaces a mouse. I use a Lenovo X61 tablet that still has a full keyboard so I can just flip the screen around and use it as a normal laptop.

I use a Wacom Graphire 4 that was originally for drawing, but after I took up photography I started to use it for editing.
It is really nice if you do a lot of masking and need the precision. The pressure sensitivity is really nice since you wouldn't have to change the brush size constantly, and it feels much nicer than using a mouse in my opinion.
After about five minutes I was already used to my tablet so it isn't hard to use in the least bit! Not sure what you would need to look for when buying one. I knew that I wanted something that wasn't huge and was reliable. There are Wacom Cintiqs which let you see what you are working on right on the tablet, but they aren't really necessary for photo editing and they're pretty expensive.

I bought a medium Intuos 4 tablet a few months ago and am using it more and more. For Photoshop , it's great. Still getting used to the sensitivity settings. A mouse is either on or off. Whereas the Intuos tablet is sensitive to the pen's pressure, just like a paintbrush.

I also like a tablet for detail work. Much more precise than a mouse. Haven't experimented with the variety of pen nibs yet, but do like having the option. One day ...

I use a Wacom Bamboo for everything. I don't even like a mouse anymore.

Huh. After seeing what you guys are using, I've realized I have a different definition of "tablet". I guess I'm referring to a "tablet pc". The tablet that you're referring to looks pretty cool though.

I returned the Wacom because...I can't draw with a pen so it really didn't help me.

Heh! Your question in the Raw, Post Process and Printing section pushed the buttons about using the graphics tablets that many use with applications like Photoshop.

You are asking, actually, about the little tablet PCs, right? Probably check in the Computers sub-section -- you'll see a link to it in the header area above this section -- here's the link:

Naw, I'm not the OP. I was just responding about a tablet pc that I have and realized the OP was probably referring to a different kind of tablet.

I have, do, but not with a tablet, so can't offer any insight there! Although I do have a tablet attached, I've just never gotten into the habit of using one.

Is it buggy at all or do they have it pretty stable?

It's just a Beta, so it is incomplete and probably buggy, and not recommended for anything critical. But, functionally, it is much the same as LR2 -- it's more the "under the hood" stuff that they've been working on, from what I gather.

Have you noticed a difference in overall quality of output?
