Anybody lens-geek familar with the Leica Adapter for the Leica 60mm 2.8 Macro?

Apparently you can get a Leica Macro Adapter 14256 (or 14198 ) to get a ratio of 1:1.

I have Kenko extension tubes, so the questin is would these tubes have the same effect as the Leica 14256/14198 adapters?

If so, I would be saving myself some money using Kenko's.

Currently using on a 5D MKII.

Tubes are tubes. There's just air in there with no glass elements so if the kenko set is the same length as teh leica set then the effect will be identical.

If this (external link) is what the OP means, then you can save yourself some money and go with the Kenko´s instead. As previously mentioned, both of them are just empty tubes. The only feature you will "miss out" on is that the Leica tubes allow full aperture control from a Leica R-camera (which you don´t use, obviously), so by all means, skip the Leica tubes.

The adapter is just air and 30mm.... the Kenko set contains 12, 20 and 36mm tubes.

Bohdan - I may be, and probably am, completely wrong.
