This year I have decided to resolve to stop worrying about gear I don't own, and learn how to better use what I have already. I spent way too much time comparing sample shots, reading sharpness graphs and buying/selling lenses last year. This year I plan to actually worry about the photos, not the gear

Anyone with me?

(of course this is all null and void if I find the deal of a lifetime on a newer body or they release something spectacular:D)

I decided to use my 28-135 for a portrait shoot recently. I hadn't used it in a long time because I got sucked into all the "L" talk. I loved the results. For what I do it was more than enough quality. I think I'm right there with you on this one

Yeah, I have to agree and jump in! I love my 1D2 and the 28-135 lens. It is a really nice lens for the money. My resolution is just to get out and shoot more, so I can enjoy the great, albeit older, equipment I do have; instead of dreaming how nice it would be to have a 1D3 or a 1D4.

Count me in... lately I've been more obsessed with light and how to shape it rather than which new body or lens I think I "need".

I'm actually pretty content w/ my gear lineup. My only real addition this year will be either the 300 or 400 2.8. Maybe the 16-35, but that would just be because. I don't really need it.

My wife has already agreed to me getting this lens this year. Gotta love a wife who lets me spend copious amounts of money!:D I'll only get the 2.8, though.

My new years resolution is trying not to buy another body or lens.
I have more than enough right now.

but that is null & void if I find the deal of a lifetime on something I want... which is what got me into this mess in the first place. uh oh....

I've never been caught up in gear lust so I don't really need any resolution to continue to do so.

My fav shot of 09 was taken with the 28-135.

If anything I need to commit to just getting out and shooting more!

Sorry, can't do it. :p

I have all the lenses I need (unless Tamron decides to introduce a 70-200 f/2.8 VC or I come across a good deal on a Tokina 50-135), which includes my last purchase for 2009, a 85mm f/1.8. But I do have my eye on a body if things pick up, and I will need some lighting accessories - umbrellas and holders for the top of my new light stands, other light modifiers, maybe one more strobe...

This does all hinge, of course, on a bit more free-flowing funds.. ;-)a

Good plan. The photographer makes the image, not the camera.
