I have found an excellent chart explaining Custom Function IV-1 on the Canon 20D. I would like to use this to assist me in fully understanding how this function works on my 40D and 50D (the manuals would suggest these two are identical in this respect).

With the obvious difference that both the 40D and 50D have a dedicated AF-ON button and the 20D used the "*" button instead, may I assume the operation of the exposure, focusing and metering systems at the various CF-IV-1 settings are the same as the 20D?

I would appreciate a user of both cameras to confirm this fact.

B/C the grips for the bodies don't have the AF-ON button, setting the * to AF on/off and separating it from the shutter button allow you to have consistent controls between body and grip.

if i'm not mistaken, you can cFunction the AF-ON button to do other things.
