Hi everyone,

My gf took this photo of me having an intimate time with this little kitty and she would like some criticism. I was busy explaining to her that although a photograph may be meaningful to the photographer, it may not always be technically correct (as is the case with some of my photos).

So she'd like to see what you all have to say. No worries, be harsh as they come :)

Excellent concept and nice that Kitty decided to play along.

Did you by any chance replace the background with blue sky? I'm seeing some funky edges that might need more attention. Above the arm and along the cat's back are the most noticeable.

I saw that as well Jay, but then I saw he lives in Malta...figured maybe they have the best blue skies:lol:

Thanks all,

No the pic is not edited at all. straight out of cam!

I guess the bright blue sky is the result of the clear day and the angle taken, not to mention the L lens

I think it is a really nice shot.
I am sure you didn't really mean your
"girlfriend wanted some crticism" ;)

Perhaps a shame that all of the cat is not in the frame, or maybe the image would be even stronger with a tighter crop.
If it were my picture (apart from being rather pleased) i might be tempted to just lower the exposure on the wall and the fur around the cat's shoulders.

Having visited Malta i do remember the skies really can be that blue:D

Nice :)

Was the sky that blue or did you polarize or photoshp?

As far as i can remember, there was no polarizer on for this shot... just plain L lens!

thanks for your comments. I instructed her to make an account with the forum so you might see her around shortly ;)

the masking is not nice but I really like the message in the image ...

There is a much easier way to create a mask and that is to select the blue channel in the RGB channels and duplicate it. Blue in B/W will turn white. Adjust levels until the blue is white and the rest of the mask black.

I love it. Amazing that it is straight out of the camera. Very creative and the clarity is awesome. She did good!
