Got my 50D and 24/70 back today after damaging both of them in a fall on the Concrete after a FB game 3 weeks ago. I would love to have a pic of that fall. I could enjoy a big laugh now, since my ribs are healed enough. They both look brand new, have not shot anything yet, but I bet everything is OK. the cost was a good bit, but my fault and I try to buy as much Quality as I can afford, so cost is part of doing business. But I am impressed with Canon Repair.

on a side note when I picked it up at camera store, I asked about any news coming out. They go for their Dealers meeting with Canon next Thursday. They think there is no major updates other than maybe price going up, they mentioned the updates on the 50 lens, better glass, I think that has been out. I do not have or want one so I did not listen very well. So unless they get a surprise, it does not sound like a big deal. So watch out probably everything will change.

ouch. I would imagine that rib pain is no picnic.

I contacted my insurance man and am getting my stuff covered - $40 a year with $50 deduct - so why not?

Hope to see some change-ups in the canon line-ups!

I am covering mine also. I believe in buying insurance, but I never want to have to use it. They had to replace several pieces on the camera, but it looks brand new, I am simply amazed at what they did.

I don't mind at all.

Service details 24-70 2.8 L usm
The lens assembly was replaced and product functions were confirmed.Replaced Lens assembly 4-5th group, collar, other inspections and cleaning, mechanical adjustments and parts were carried out.

service details 50D your product has been examined and the external parts were scratched due to impact damage. The bottom cover assembly, top cover assembly and CF slot cover were replaced and product functions were confirmed. other electrical adjustments, inspections and cleaning and parts replacements carried out.

The camera store packed it paid shipping and I am sure put a service fee on it.The total cost was $ 711.45 But I cannot complain.I have my gear back, that is what is important , to me !
