Hi, we have a sticky thread called 'Photography Books'. There, people mainly recommends photography technical books. When I searched for a thread that recommends books of photoessays and photographers, I couldnt find one. So I have started this new thread.:D

I have a BBC's Wildlife Photographer of the Year book. Hope you may know about that book. That book contains inspirational photos with some technical details like shutter speed. National Geographic, Reuters, Taschen and Magnum are publishing good photography books. I also saw lot of photographers' book at stores and internet. But matter is which one is to choose.:D

So, could you please recommend some good books that give inspiration to amateur photographers and photography enthusiasts like me?

(Please recommend any category of good photography books).

Hope this thread will help lot of people to choose good photography books :)

Thanks in advance!
Jay

I picked up Asylum (external link) recently. It explores(legally) many of the abandoned state hospitals here in the US. I highly recommend it for anyone into abandoned buildings.

I don't buy too many photography books. The one book that I look at frequently is Lee Friedlander's Self Portrait. It's one of my favorites.

Can I take your picture? "I'll swallow your soul!" Well, my camera will at least.
