noting is wrong with brown but to much of something isnt always good. its just mono color, im not anywhere near a pro by any means but i think a image should be more then one color unless you were going for all brown?

I think less color and clutter is good for a desktop image, so yes, I think works nicely.

For a desktop, the bell wants to be on the right, unless your icons are on the right. Otherwise you have icons too close & distracting from it.

i would say do some lighter background to high light the bell.
not too much just a bit . tha would make it pop also center the bell.
