You can fine 100-400 pics here: https://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=373778

Not sure where to find pics of 70-200 with a TC.

70-200 f2.8 IS with 2X converter at 220mm...

I have the 100-400 and just love it for airshows. IMHO the 70-200 wouldnt cut it for airshow duty.

I've never tried the 70-200 for an airshow. My 100-400 does just fine.

The biggest problem I have with the 100-400 these days is prying it out of my wife's hands... ;)

I have both the 70-200 f2.8 IS and the 100-400. The 100-400 gets the most use by far.

When you set the aperature at 7.1 on the 100-400 you get very sharp photos. For some reason this seems to be the magic number for this lens.

That means, of course, you have to have excellent light. This lens loves and needs strong light.

Thank you. bw!

Heres an example of what the 100-400 with converter is capable of on the 30D. One is with a 500 f/4L IS and another with the 100-400L IS with 1.4x converter, both on monopods. I would certainly be unable to tell which was which if I did not know.

If I had to guess, Id say the bottom one is with the prime...I probably will forget about this post since Ive been drinking so PM me to tell me if Im right...

It's a balmy day and I finally took it for a stroll. First landing and taking off attempt. Although a little bit soft, I'm happy with the pix after some pp. I'm sure I can improve over time.

Mr. Duck thought I had handout for him--

I'm a rank newbie with Digital cameras and have only got a gripped EOS 450d plus the two kit lenses, the 18 - 55mm and the 55 - 250mm.

I have just bought the 100-400mm for it's longer reach and am looking forward to it's first outing this weekend.
The serial number says it was made September 09.

Steve

I bought the 100-400 as my son's soccer fields got larger. I don't regret it at all, but it isn't as sharp as the 70-200 2.8 IS, but in good light, it's fine. The 1.4 extender is good for the 70-200, but I haven't used it yet with the 100-400. I don't shoot wildlife, but if I did, I'd probably try it more.

For the most part I prefer the IQ of my 100-400 over my 70-200 f/2.8. The 70-200 is good, but has flaws at wider aperatures the 100-400 doesn't. If I had to sell one, the 70-200 f/2.8 would go first as I wouldn't miss it much, although if I was interested in photographing different subjects that could well change.
