Been away awhile completing my move to Juneau, Alaska. Below is a first effort shot on the fly with the 5DII and 400 f/5.6 hand held practically falling out the front door. AI Servo on this thing is pretty freeking good, fired off 14 shots in about 3 seconds or so, all in focus. It was 3:48 p.m about 20 minutes after sunset here, with slight snow falling, f/5.6, ISO 500, 1/1000, 50% crop. Yes its a tad noisy but decided to leave it alone to maintain detail.

awesome shot. the noise on the subject doesn't bother me, but the background noise is a bit distracting, would get rid of that. Otherwise, a very inspiring shot!

You know, I think people who moan and groan about the 5d AF are mistaken. my center point is FAST!'

Granted I don't often use the outer points (that's for my 50d) but the 5d is really no slouch

the lens is on infinity - it doesn't need to focus ;)

I really doubt he was using infinity, considering that he even said he was in AI servo

Excellent point on the background noise. I will reprocess and repost with a couple of more from the series sometime tomorrow. Stay tuned!
