Basically, NikonRumors has kept watch as this new rumor has surfaced. At first it was a trickle with a couple retailers putting up ads for bags and batteries that fit "Nikon D900," and NR admin knew it wasn't a repeated typo because "D90" was included in the list of compatible cameras.

Then Nikon USA put up a lame duck "placeholder" on its website which only appeared to be a repeat of its ad for the D60, but it's a dead link, and Nikon already took it down.

Finally some other site added "D900" to a list of cameras compatible with a third-party remote. Now, a few Nikon Europe websites are down. Hogan and a few others predict that Nikon will introduce the D900 next month along with 2 lenses. I don't understand why all this would be happening in the last 3 days if it's going to be next month, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see. I'm not quite sure if this will replace the D700 as a fast full-frame camera or if it will be a companion with higher resolution but worse high ISO performance à la D3x.

Will this D900 be using Sony's new "EXMOR R" sensor in FF?

Canon isn't exactly getting cheaper these days.

For sure it's coming. Expect 24 mpx and video capabilities. (If the 5DMKII had the 7D AF - it would've trumped anything on the full-frame compact market).

About the only thing that is not tempting me to the Nikon camp right now is the 24, 35, 50 and the 85 L.

I actually speculated it being a D700x, everyone on nikon kept thinking D700s upon D3s releasing, we'll have to wait and see, either way if they do, i wonder what the prices will be like for a D700...

lol update... rumors are back for D900, apparently the source for the d700x came from the rumor section of a chinese or japanese magazine.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was something like $3500 on release. The people saying $3800 are converting directly from the source (I think a picture that uses Chinese Yuan), and Nikon almost always charges less in the US than anywhere else. But if you consider that the D700 was $3000 when new, $3500 isn't ridiculous; it won't be enough to compete with the D3x and it will be sure to go down.

Of course, the D3s may become a bit obsolete if the regular D700 is updated as well... but that's always how Nikon does things.

Not quite the D900 but according to NikonRumors, this week an AF-S 24mm f1.4 and 16-35 f4 VR will be released. Wednesday is when it will probably happen. More Coolpixes are coming out tomorrow though.
