That seems to have come out of nowhere, no ?

I wonder what the new and improved price is.

Maybe now I can afford to upgrade my F:4 to a 2.8 IS Mark I. Doubt it.....

Oh man, mine sucks now. :)

Cool, love the new MFD. Might be worth of an upgrade, sometime.

Does this mean we are about to get Canon's CES announcements, or is this just one coming out early?

I will be selling selling mine as soon as it is actually available for sale. Sounds like the thing is actually optically different, unlike many Mark II designs.

0.21X looks good, as long as it's not a dog like the f/4L IS version at MFD :(

Well it was kinda expected, wasn't it?

Not selling my month-old crappy Mk1 Mr SS Racer. Well, at least not cheap anyway ;)

Take care now

Mark 1 is a good lens but showing its age. Great Image quality but resolving power is getting pushed by newer sensors admittedly. Matters to pixel peeper and heavy croppers like me, but less so to photographers who don't need to crop like crazy

I would like a Mark 1 in the interim though, until Mark II prices come down

Get this - according to Canon's web page (external link), the new EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens is NOT SUPPLIED with a lens hood. It also uses a new ET-87 hood (the old lens uses an ET-86). So, add the price of the hood to the price of the lens.

Whats up with that? Nickel and dimeing L lenses now too? We all expect the price to go up, but removing pieces is wrong.

The press release says it is included - no worries.
