Let's make sure we prop up the price of the "old" one.

I gotta say: The new Nikon 70-200 was needed. It greatly improved upon the older version in both edge sharpness and especially stabilization. As to the Canon, the "old" one was and still is a great lens.

I guarantee the new one will retail for $2399, just like the Nikon. That's a hefty chunk of change. Maybe I'll have to sell mine to get it. I like new, ya know.

Probably cost $100

Ill assume it is an error as the press release says:

Pricing and Availability
The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens is supplied with a detachable tripod collar, a reversible bayonet mount lens hood and a lens pouch. The new lens is scheduled to be delivered to U.S. dealers in April, price to be determined.

yep.... this is what im thinking too.

For me, id make much better use of a 5d mkII then the 70-200 mkII for my style of shooting

I wonder if it is going to be the soft one like F4, or still the nice one like with the existing f2.8

I'm hoping the street price of this one doesn't exceed US$1999. I knew I was holding off the purchase of a 70-200mm for a reason...
