If you dont need it badly, why not return it and see what happens. The old version's price wont go up for sure. --------except the new one really sucks.however, I dont think it will happen.

All great advised here! Thanks Guys.
I am going to hold on for a week or so to see if the price finally appear then decide.
I feel guilty because I return a lots in Amazon, though I could keep this but now the MK2 announce, looks like I have other way than return it.
If then the MK2 price too high, I will just buy back the MK1 or even the F4 IS.
Thanks
Sonny

Poster over at DP Review had a play with the new lens at CES yesterday. Canon USA advised that they're 'not yet ready to release a price' but that people should expect it to be 'higher than the outgoing model'.

I think Radiohead & myself are singing from the same hymn sheet (not that I can sing - LOL).

$2999 I reckon. Radiohead what's your best guess?

Canon rep told a dealer here in Calgary that it would probably be about $300 to $500 more than the current model. That puts it at about $2400 to $2600 CDN.

This makes much more sense. I can't see Canon discontinuing their most popular tele and replacing it with something that is priced mostly out of reach for the market that uses it. That would be more like abandoning an established base of users.

The early adopters who have put their orders in for this thing at ridiculously inflated prices are weird IMO.

Camera Store? Vistek? Anyway, $2600 CND is a LOT of money

pricing came from Vistek. Saneal confirmed timing, Camera Store didn't know.
When the original 70-200 2.8L IS came out, it was almost $3000 CDN. The price on the box of mine was $2699.99 (plus 7% GST). I'm hoping the new one comes out at 'only' $2600.00 CDN.

I paid over $7k for the 200/2 when it was first released. Price for the 70-200 II may eventually come down, but I think initially it will be higher than the Nikon.

Should know soon though :)
